Purpose

The Society is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1981 to foster research on beads of all materials and periods, and to expedite the dissemination of the resultant knowledge. Membership is open to all persons involved in the study of beads, as well as those interested in keeping abreast of current trends in bead research. The Society publishes a biannual newsletter, The Bead Forum and an annual journal, Beads. Contents of the newsletter include current research news, requests for information, responses to queries, listings of recent publications, conference and symposia announcements, and brief articles on various aspects of bead research.

Membership

There are four levels of membership: Individual, Sustaining, Patron, and Benefactor (see order form). All levels receive the same publications and benefits; the Sustaining, Patron, and Benefactor categories are simply intended to allow those who are in a position to donate larger amounts to the Society to do so. Complete sets and individual back issues of The Bead Forum and Beads are available; postage depends on the country of destination (see order form). For quantity discounts, see discount orders.

Members, especially libraries, should note that while they will receive their newsletters during the membership year, the journal, Beads, is generally published in the following year. Hence, members who join in 2006, for example, may not receive the journal for that year until the end of the following year.
